Over the past 3 years, we have received numerous questions and comments concerning Saddle Brook Park. We appreciate your feedback and hope that some of the answers to these inquiries below is informative.
Question: What is the location of the facilities?
Answer: Saddle Brook Park and its facilities will be located about 4 miles west of Soncy Rd. in Amarillo, Tx. It sits in the NE corner of 34th St. and Arnot Rd. off Exit #60. For more information, check out the Park Info page.
Question: What size of track are you building?
Answer: Saddle Brook Park is a Class 2 horse track consisting of a 1 mile oval with a 550 straightaway.
Question: Is there going to be Thoroughbred, Quarter Horse, or a combination of being raced at the track?
Answer: Both Thoroughbred and Quarter Horses will run meets.
Question: How will the tremendously strong winds of the plains affect the races, concerts, festivals, etc.?
Answer: Most all races will be at night. The amphitheater stage will be over 20 feet below track level. These factors should help diminish wind effects.
Question: When will you start taking applications?
Answer: Applications will be taken electronically via our web site. Currently we are not taking applications. Please check back later with the web site for career opportunities.
Question: Is horse racing still on for Amarillo/Texas Panhandle?
Answer: Take the new online poll which correlates to this question.
Question: Has construction begun?
Answer: Construction has not begun as of Today (Friday, November 21, 2008).
Question: When is the scheduled completion date of the park? When will it be open?
Answer: Our facilities will be constructed in multiple phases. Our plan is to have the first phase open to the public within 9 months after construction has begun. Subsequent phases will be completed with the next 6 to 9 months.
